Day 28 The Sirens, Oil on Canvas, 10ftx7ft

This older painting is of a scene in Tibet, and a physical and psychic meditation on the changes there in recent decades. The contrast between the natural lines of the mountain and the geometric spread of heavy industry and agriculture is a universal and as well as more local metaphor, with the tension also reflected in the title of the piece. This painting was purchased by the US Government Art Collection and hangs in the new US Embassy in Beijing.
